SUPPORTING ACTOR SUNDAY – JOHN DEHNER

SUPPORTING ACTOR SUNDAY

JOHN DEHNER (1915-1992)
A true Renaissance man of show business. He started out as an animator for Disney and his artwork graces the classics BAMBI and FANTASIA. He served in the armed forces during WW II and went into radio after the War. He worked as a newscaster for several years and then became an actor in radio drama. He was The Hermit in the weird anthology THE HERMIT’S CAVE (“Ghost stories! Weird stories. And murders, too! The Hermit knows of them all! Turn out your lights. Turn them out, and listen while the Hermit tells you …”) and Paladin in the radio version of HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL. Then he became a familiar face in TV and movies, with nearly 300 credits to his name. THE BOWERY BOYS MEET THE MONSTERS. CHEYENNE. PERRY MASON. WAGON TRAIN. THE RIFLEMAN. MAVERICK.77 SUNSET STRIP. RAWHIDE. THE WILD WILD WEST. GUNSMOKE. COLUMBO. THE RIGHT STUFF and THE WINDS OF WAR. He was unforgettable in THE TWILIGHT ZONE episode “The Jungle.” Truly remarkable
